Succes!

This supercute crochet calender is available in the webshop of Breiclub. I've had one to give away for some time, and what's better then to start the week with a chance to win this lovely calender? The good thing about this calender is that there it is not linked to a certain year, so you can use it for many years to come. It's filled with many patterns. So if you win this calender, you can crochet for a long time. Do you want to win this calender? Leave a comment below or join the competition through Facebook. I will pick a winner on Wednesday. Good luck!

The winner

Volgens mij is me dat uiteindelijk gelukt.

The respons to the Aan de Haak magazine was so amazing! I really had to work hard to keep up with reading and liking all the comments here and on Facebook, but I think I managed. :-) The winner is:

Sindie van der Sanden

Sindie, congratulations! Please send me a message with your address and I'll send the magazine over as soon as possible.
On the picture above you see the new cotton by Paintbox that I received yesterday. A very lovely 100% cotton, and these are just five of the available 56 colors. You can order this exclusively on the LoveCrafts website. Click here to go there.
If you click here you can see the delivery costs, this might be interesting to read because they ship really fast and the packaging is really cute.
I'm not sure what I'll make of this cotton yet, but lately I'm completely into granny squares again, so it will probably be something like that.

New Giveaway: Aan de Haak Magazine

When I came home from holiday yesterday I found this magazine in the mail. What a lovely surprise! I flipped through it and I saw so many lovely projects. Patterns of two very cute bagpacks, flowers, a cactus, a baby blanket and a shawl. And that wasn't all! There's also a pattern in it from Lisanne from Draad en Praat and a very nice interview with Sascha from A la Sascha.
As you might have read in one of my previous posts I am a blogger for Aan de Haak. Today my new blog post was published, you can read it here on the website of Aan de Haak. That's where you can order your copy of this Dutch magazine or get a subscription.
Do you want to win this magazine? I'm giving away a copy of this magazine to one of my followers. You can leave a comment here or on my Facebook-page. I'll announce the winner this Thursday. Good luck!

Crochet to Calm

Hoera!

Yay! I'm in a new book and I'm so proud because the book turned out gorgeous. The book has 18 gorgeous patterns in it from 15 different designers from all over the world. For instance, there is a pattern in it from Lisa who lives in New Zealand but is originally from The Netherlands. Her website with crochet e-magazines is here and her gorgeous Etsy-shop is here. But there's also Mandy from Australia who I already followed on Instagram (click here) and I didn't know she was going to be in the book too. Such a great surprise! And then there were some other Instagram-girls that are in it: Kate, living in California is here, and Jennifer who lives in Montana is here. And there are many more talented designers in the book, but I can't share them all or this blog posts would be way too long. If you are interested in this book, you can purchase you copy here at Amazon. If you are in The Netherlands you can buy your copy here. It is written in US terms. If you buy it, please let me know what you think of the book!

Rat Bookmark

Isn't this an hilarious bookmark? I think it's so funny, I should make one some day. The pattern is free and is available here in German and in English. More bookmark patterns are here in these blog posts.

Coin purses

Crochet coin purses: I love them so much! I don't make them very often, but when I go on holiday I always have one with me. I made this one with Phildar Coton 3 and a crochet hook size 3mm. I just made a straight piece with some bobble stitches and it's done before you know it. Below you see another cute purse. Or maybe it's more a pencil case. I didn't make that on yet. The crochet scheme is free and you can find it here. Another purse (and free pattern) that I made is here.

When I was asked if I wanted to be one of the bloggers for the new Dutch crochet magazine 'Aan de Haak', I didn't have to think very long. Ofcourse! I'd love to! So after a long wait this week I finally wrote my first blog post. And that was pretty exciting, because what should I write in a first blog post? I thought it would be fun to add a little pattern. And so I designed the bookmark above. Do you want to make this bookmark? The pattern and my first blog post is here (in Dutch) on the website of the magazine Aan de Haak. Because I have a lot of foreign followers, I also made an English version of this pattern. You can find it below this blog post or you can download it for free here (just scroll to the right pattern) at the LoveCrafts website. I made this bookmark with Phildar Phil Cotton 3 and a crochet hook size 3mm.

Pattern
In US crochet terms

1. 18DC in a magic ring. If you don’t know how to make a magic ring, click here for a tutorial.
2. 1 SLST in the first DC and change colour while doing so.
3. CH2, in the same stitch below: 1DC, 1TR. Chain 1.
4. In the next stitch: 1TR, 1DC. Chain 2. Do 1 SLST in the same stitch.
5. 1 SC in the next stitch, 1SLST in the next stitch.
6. Repeat rows 3‐5 until you reach the first leaf (fasten off here if you only want to make the flower).Change colour at the last stitch, change to green. So change with the slip stitch that you make at the bottom of the first leaf.
7. Chain 10. Do 1SC in the second stitch from hook. In the next chain: 1HDC. In the next chain: 1DC. Do 1 SLST in the same chain you did your last DC in.
8. Repeat row 7 four times (or more often if you want your bookmark to be longer). Chain 5 and fasten of. Attach a little bell at the end and work away all yarn ends
